Mohan Bhagwat Defends Gen Z Protests
RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat has defended the right of young people to protest, saying demonstrations are a legitimate form of dialogue in a democracy. Addressing Gen Z and Gen Alpha students in Mumbai, he said their concerns should be answered with logic, affection and a sense of belonging.

Bhagwat said young protesters should not be described as anti-national merely because they question authorities or express dissatisfaction. He argued that many members of the younger generation possess a genuine sense of patriotism and raise issues because they want the country to improve.
He described Gen Z and Gen Alpha as more honest in expressing their feelings than many adults. Their questions and grievances, he said, must be understood instead of being dismissed or suppressed.
Protest Is Part of Democratic Dialogue
The RSS chief said protest has an important place within democracy but should ultimately help society reach consensus rather than deepen divisions.
According to Bhagwat, disagreements should be addressed through constructive discussion. He urged both young people and older generations to communicate respectfully and remain open to different perspectives while searching for solutions.
His remarks came amid wider public debate over student-led demonstrations and the government’s response to concerns involving education, employment and public accountability.
RSS Chief Addresses IIMUN Conference
Bhagwat made the comments during an interaction organised by India’s International Movement to Unite Nations in Mumbai. The youth conference brought together around 2,000 Gen Z and Gen Alpha students from more than 100 cities.
The programme allowed students to directly question the RSS chief on protests, leadership, education and issues affecting young Indians. Bhagwat said the era of unquestioned obedience had ended and that today’s youth expect explanations supported by reason.
