Modi Targets “Jungle Raj” Ahead of Bihar Elections, Launches Projects

Prime Minister Narendra Modi used a high-energy rally in Siwan to sharply criticize the RJD-Congress alliance, accusing them of presiding over a “jungle raj” characterized by lawlessness and poor governance. His comments come less than two weeks before Bihar’s assembly elections, highlighting security and development as key electoral themes.

Bihar Elections

Addressing a crowd of enthusiastic supporters, PM Modi contrasted his government’s record of stability and progress with the alleged chaos under the opposition’s influence. “There can’t be a jungle raj where the police are scared even to step out,” he remarked, calling for a return to civic order and accountability. The PM urged voters to reject parties he said had nurtured crime and corruption across Bihar.

Project Launch

To reinforce his message, Modi unveiled a slate of public works valued at over ₹5,000 crore, emphasizing infrastructure as a cornerstone of his governance agenda. Highlights include:

  • Urban water and sewage treatment schemes in cities like Bettiah and Chapra
  • Battery energy storage installations at substations across Bihar
  • The launch of the Delhi–Patliputra Vande Bharat Express, improving rail connectivity for commuters and promoting economic integration across states

By coupling criticism of the opposition with high-profile developmental promises, Modi aimed to showcase a clear choice: stagnation vs. growth, disorder vs. discipline.

Jungle Raj

The phrase “jungle raj” echoed widely in local media and politics, framing the narrative of Bihar elections as a choice between lawlessness and order. According to Modi, restoring public confidence in governance requires strong leadership—and voters must elect a government that prioritizes safety and rule of law.

Vande Bharat

Flagging off the Vande Bharat Express marked a symbolic moment, representing both tangible infrastructure benefits and a message about modernisation and access. The high-speed train will serve as a visible reminder of federal investment reaching Bihar, reinforcing Modi’s portrayal of his government as builder of transformative projects.
