Modi Reciprocates Trump’s “Always Be Friends” Remark

U.S. President Donald Trump recently said he will “always be friends” with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. He described his relationship with Modi as “very special” and stressed there is “nothing to worry about” in India–U.S. ties, even though some disagreements on trade and energy remain unresolved. Trump acknowledged his frustration over India’s continued oil purchases from Russia but underlined that such issues would not weaken the larger partnership.

Modi’s Warm Response

Responding to Trump’s comments, Prime Minister Modi said he “deeply appreciates and fully reciprocates” the sentiments. Modi emphasized that India and the U.S. share a strategic partnership that is “positive and forward-looking.” He added that both nations remain committed to strengthening cooperation across sectors, from defense to technology, while addressing global challenges together.

Strategic Bond Remains Strong

The exchange comes at a time when bilateral ties face stress due to tariff disputes and policy differences. Yet, both leaders highlighted the resilience of their personal bond and the importance of India–U.S. relations on the global stage. Their remarks reaffirm that despite frictions, the long-term partnership remains central to both countries’ strategic priorities.
