PM Modi Invited To Gaza Peace Meet, Will Skip
Prime Minister Narendra Modi was invited by Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi and U.S. President Donald Trump to attend the Gaza peace summit in Sharm el-Sheikh on October 13. The high-level summit is aimed at advancing a ceasefire and moving forward with a structured peace agreement between Israel and Hamas.
India To Send Ministerial Representation
Although Modi has decided not to attend personally, India will still take part. Minister of State for External Affairs Kirti Vardhan Singh will represent the country at the meeting. External affairs officials confirmed that India will remain engaged through this delegation.
Summit Co-Chaired By Trump And Sisi
The Sharm el-Sheikh summit will be jointly chaired by Trump and Sisi, and will include participation from leaders of over 20 nations. A key objective is to finalise the first phase of the ceasefire deal, which could pave the way for broader regional peace arrangements.
India’s Diplomatic Position
While skipping direct participation, Modi has publicly described Trump’s 20-point peace framework as a “viable pathway” to lasting peace. India’s decision to send a ministerial representative reflects continued diplomatic support for the peace process without taking a front-line role.
