Microsoft To Invest $17.5 Billion In India
Microsoft has announced that it will invest $17.5 billion in India over the next four years, describing it as the company’s largest commitment in Asia. The announcement was made during CEO Satya Nadella’s visit, where he met senior government officials to discuss technology cooperation.
Focus on data centres and AI
The investment will be used to expand cloud infrastructure, build new data centres and strengthen Microsoft’s AI capabilities in the country. The company plans to create additional cloud regions and improve capacity for enterprise services, public sector workloads and digital solutions. Microsoft said the push is aimed at supporting India’s rapid growth in digital services.
Skill development and jobs
Alongside technology expansion, Microsoft will work on training programmes to develop digital and AI skills. The company said these initiatives will help prepare millions of workers for roles in a growing technology economy. Analysts expect the investment to create new jobs, both directly and through partner networks.
Strategic signal for India
The scale of the investment is being viewed as a major vote of confidence in India’s tech and digital ecosystem. Experts said the decision could attract more investments from other global companies and further strengthen India’s position in technology supply chains, cloud services and AI development.
