Messi Inspires Inter Miami To First MLS Cup Title
Inter Miami won their first-ever MLS Cup after defeating Vancouver Whitecaps 3-1, with Lionel Messi delivering two key assists in the final. The match was played at Chase Stadium and saw Miami finish the season with a historic trophy.
Early Own Goal Helped Miami
Miami took the lead early when a low cross from the right was deflected by a Vancouver defender into his own net. The goal settled nerves and allowed the home side to control possession.
Vancouver equalised in the 60th minute when Ali Ahmed finished from close range, taking advantage of a defensive lapse. However, the scores remained level only briefly.
Messi Creates Two Goals
In the 71st minute, Messi found space and played a pass through to Rodrigo De Paul, who scored to restore Miami’s lead. In stoppage time, Messi set up Tadeo Allende for the third goal, sealing the result and the championship.
Messi was named the Final MVP for his impact, vision and decisive contribution in attack.
Historic Moment For The Club
Inter Miami, founded in 2018, had never won the MLS Cup before. Since Messi’s arrival in 2023, the team has collected several titles, but this is their biggest achievement.
Club officials said the victory reflected progress on and off the pitch, with strong recruitment and leadership helping transform the side into title contenders.
