Masood Azhar Threatens Suicide Attacks in New Audio
An audio clip purportedly featuring Masood Azhar, the leader of the banned terrorist group Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), has emerged in which he claims that many suicide attackers are ready to strike if given orders. In the recording, Azhar says the number of such operatives is far greater than a thousand and suggests the figure would shock the world if disclosed.
JeM is a UN-designated terrorist organisation blamed for several major attacks against India, including the 2001 Parliament attack and the 2019 Pulwama attack, which killed security personnel. Azhar has long been linked to planning cross-border attacks while based in Pakistan-linked areas.
Growing Security Concerns
The release of the audio has raised alarms among security analysts in India. While the authenticity and timing of the recording could not be independently verified, the content reflects continued hostile rhetoric from JeM’s leadership. Officials say such messages are often used to intimidate and recruit, but may not reflect actual operational capability.
India’s security forces remain on alert for terror threats and continue intelligence operations to counter extremist activities linked to Pakistan-based groups.
