Maruti Suzuki to Invest ₹35,000 Crore in Gujarat Plant

Maruti Suzuki India has announced an investment of ₹35,000 crore to set up a new automobile manufacturing plant in Gujarat, marking one of the company’s largest expansion plans in recent years. The investment reflects Maruti Suzuki’s long-term strategy to scale up capacity in line with rising domestic and export demand.

Capacity and Timeline

The proposed plant is planned to have an annual production capacity of up to one million vehicles once it becomes fully operational. Commercial production is expected to begin in the latter part of the decade, after phased development and installation of manufacturing infrastructure.

Jobs and Local Impact

The new facility is expected to generate thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, benefiting local suppliers and ancillary industries. State authorities said the project would strengthen Gujarat’s position as a major automotive manufacturing hub.

Strategic Expansion

Maruti Suzuki said the new plant will help the company meet future demand, support new model launches, and enhance export capabilities. The investment also aligns with India’s broader push to expand manufacturing capacity and strengthen its automotive supply chain.
