Maruti Suzuki Reports Record October Sales in India
Maruti Suzuki India Ltd (MSIL) announced that it achieved its highest ever monthly sales in October 2025, driven by a combination of festival-season demand and recent Goods & Services Tax (GST) rate reductions. The company said domestic passenger vehicle dispatches to dealers crossed the previous record, with robust volumes across hatchbacks, compact sedans and entry-level SUVs.
Key performance and contributing factors
The automaker attributed the surge to strong customer traction across its network, especially in smaller-engine cars benefiting from the GST rationalisation. Industry data indicates that overall car and SUV sales in India for October exceeded 5.5 lakh units, marking a historic monthly high for the sector. MSIL said its lead-time improved, many models were sold virtually as soon as they arrived at dealerships, and dealer inventories were lean.
Market implications and outlook
Analysts view the performance as a positive read-through for India’s broader auto market, suggesting pent-up demand, favourable policy changes and improved affordability are combining to spur sales. MSIL’s strong showing may influence pricing and incentive strategies at other OEMs. The challenge ahead for the company will be to sustain momentum, manage supply-chain pressures and fulfil high-volume orders without diluting margins.
