At the same hearing, Sergio Gor said that India and the US are “not that far apart” in resolving outstanding tariff issues. He expressed optimism that negotiations will resolve trade obstacles in the coming weeks.

Gor also emphasized that reducing India’s purchases of Russian oil is a priority for the administration. He signaled that this issue is tied closely with trade discussions and broader geopolitical concerns.
