Manish Tewari Joins Bipartisan India Delegation in Ethiopia, Calls for Unity Against Terrorism

In a strong show of national consensus, Congress MP Manish Tewari has joined a multi-party Indian delegation to Ethiopia, reinforcing India’s diplomatic outreach amid heightened anti-terror efforts following Operation Sindoor. His remarks during the visit signal a rare moment of bipartisan solidarity as India faces growing security threats from cross-border terrorism.

Manish Tewari’s Call for Bipartisan Unity

Speaking from Addis Ababa, Manish Tewari stressed that India’s national self-respect must transcend political divisions. “When it comes to India’s self-respect, we all rise above party politics,” he said, sending a clear message of national unity. He also warned that if Pakistan continues to foster terrorism, India’s response—already decisive—would grow more intense and expansive.

Tewari, a member of the Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defence, praised India’s calibrated military action and its global positioning as a responsible yet firm responder to terror.

Strengthening Ties with Ethiopia

The Indian delegation met with senior Ethiopian leaders including the former Prime Minister, the Deputy Chairperson of the ruling Prosperity Party, and representatives from the African Union and Ethiopian Parliament. These meetings reinforced India’s narrative on the legitimacy of its self-defensive actions and the moral imperative to combat terrorism globally.

Tewari highlighted Ethiopia’s support for India’s position post-Pahalgam attack and emphasized the historic civilizational bond between the two nations. The visit also focused on deepening trade, education, and diaspora ties.

Operation Sindoor: India’s Assertive Diplomacy

The Ethiopia visit is part of a broader Indian initiative under Operation Sindoor, which involves sending bipartisan delegations to friendly nations to build consensus and expose the depth of state-sponsored terror threats emanating from across the border.

By presenting a united domestic front internationally, India seeks to erode any narratives that seek to portray its security actions as partisan or politically motivated. The messaging has been consistent: terrorism is not a matter of political debate but a threat to the very foundation of Indian democracy and sovereignty.

As global powers watch India’s calibrated yet forceful diplomacy, the cross-party consensus displayed in delegations like this one underlines the strategic seriousness of India’s current foreign and defense policy framework.
