Mahakumbh 2025: Security Measures Enhanced for Over 450 Million Visitors
Mahakumbh 2025, set to take place in Prayagraj from January 13 to February 26, is gearing up to host over 450 million visitors. In response to the anticipated crowds, extensive security measures have been implemented to ensure the safety and smooth conduct of this grand religious event. Authorities have deployed advanced technology and personnel, making this one of the most secure editions of the Kumbh Mela to date.
Approximately 2,700 AI-enabled cameras have been installed across the Kumbh area to provide real-time surveillance and crowd management. These cameras are designed to monitor crowd density, alert officials about potential security concerns, and oversee cleanliness and order at key locations. Underwater drones have also been introduced to monitor river activities, ensuring the safety of devotees taking ritual baths in the Ganga and Yamuna rivers.
The security apparatus includes the deployment of NSG commandos, ATS teams, and PAC personnel. Over 50,000 police officers have been assigned to manage the sprawling 4,000-hectare Kumbh area. In addition, the authorities have set up 102 checkpoints along critical routes, where vehicles and individuals will undergo rigorous security checks. Mock drills involving multiple security agencies have been conducted to ensure preparedness for any eventuality. The area is also patrolled by drones, Vajra vehicles, and anti-sabotage teams around the clock.
These multi-layered security arrangements reflect the commitment to safeguarding the millions of pilgrims expected to attend Mahakumbh 2025, ensuring a safe and spiritually fulfilling experience for all.
