Macron Criticizes Israeli Ground Operations, Netanyahu Responds

French President Emmanuel Macron expressed his concern over Israel’s ongoing military operations and urged for a return to a political solution instead of escalating the conflict further. During an interview with a local media outlet, Macron emphasized that France is not supplying any weapons to the region and regretted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s decision to pursue ground operations in Lebanon.

“I regret that Prime Minister Netanyahu has made another choice and has taken this responsibility, in particular, for ground operations on Lebanese soil…Lebanon cannot become a new Gaza,” Macron stated, emphasizing that continuing the war would only lead to more hatred and instability in the region.

Netanyahu Condemns Calls for Arms Embargo on Israel

In response, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticized Macron and other Western leaders for suggesting an arms embargo on Israel, calling it a “disgrace.” Netanyahu highlighted that Iran continues to supply arms to groups like Hezbollah, Hamas, and other proxies, while Israel faces condemnation for defending itself.

“Today, Israel is defending itself on seven fronts against the enemies of civilization. We are fighting in Gaza against Hamas, those savages who murdered, raped, beheaded, and burned our people on October 7,” Netanyahu said in a video message, reiterating Israel’s stance against ongoing threats.
