LSG Sign George Linde For IPL 2026
Lucknow Super Giants have signed South Africa all-rounder George Linde as a replacement for Wanindu Hasaranga for IPL 2026. The move comes after Hasaranga was ruled out of the tournament with a hamstring injury, forcing LSG to make a change to their squad as the season progresses.
George Linde Replaces Wanindu Hasaranga
LSG confirmed that George Linde has been brought in as Hasaranga’s replacement for the remainder of IPL 2026. Hasaranga had joined the franchise for Rs 2 crore at the auction, but his campaign was cut short after he suffered a hamstring injury during Sri Lanka’s opening match of the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026.
George Linde Brings All Round Experience
Linde arrives with strong international and franchise T20 experience. The left-handed batting all-rounder also bowls slow left-arm orthodox and has represented South Africa in Tests, ODIs and T20 Internationals. In T20Is, he has scored 403 runs and taken 35 wickets, while his overall T20 career now stretches across 250 matches. His addition gives LSG a spin-bowling all-round option with depth in both departments.
First IPL Opportunity For George Linde
This will be George Linde’s first stint in the Indian Premier League. He joins Lucknow Super Giants at his reserve price of Rs 1 crore. For LSG, the signing offers a like-for-like balance option in the squad, even though Hasaranga’s absence removes an established match-winner. The franchise will now hope Linde can settle quickly and provide value in the middle overs with both bat and ball.
