LeT Terrorist Hashim Moosa Killed in Budgam
Security forces have killed Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba terrorist Mohammad Asif, alias Hashim Moosa, during an encounter in Jammu and Kashmir’s Budgam district. His body was recovered along with what the Army described as war-like stores during a follow-up search.
Mohammad Asif Killed in Budgam Encounter
The encounter took place in the higher reaches of the Yousmarg area after security forces launched Operation Korag based on specific intelligence inputs.
A joint team began a search operation after detecting suspicious movement. When challenged, the terrorists allegedly opened fire, triggering an exchange in which Mohammad Asif was killed.
His body was later recovered from the Palmaidan area along with weapons and other military-grade stores. Search operations in the surrounding area continued after the encounter.
LeT Terrorist Linked to Pahalgam Attack
Mohammad Asif, also known as Hashim Moosa, was identified as a Pakistan-based Lashkar-e-Taiba operative and a key suspect in the 2025 Pahalgam terror attack that killed 26 civilians.
Security agencies had been tracking him for his alleged involvement in multiple attacks across Jammu and Kashmir.
Jammu and Kashmir Police had earlier announced a reward of ₹20 lakh for information leading to the arrest of Moosa and other wanted terrorists linked to the Pahalgam case.
Security Agencies Continue Operation Korag
Investigators have alleged that the Pahalgam attack was planned and facilitated by Lashkar-e-Taiba and its proxy, The Resistance Front.
Mohammad Asif’s killing marks a significant development in the continuing investigation and counter-terror operations linked to the attack.
Security forces continued combing the Yousmarg-Budgam area after the encounter to determine whether other terrorists were present.
