KPSC Freezes Veterinary Officer Selection
The Karnataka Public Service Commission has placed the final selection list for 400 veterinary officer posts on hold following allegations of bribery and manipulation in the recruitment process.
KPSC Veterinary Recruitment Put on Hold
The disputed recruitment covers 342 regular vacancies and 58 backlog posts in Karnataka’s Animal Husbandry and Fisheries Department. Written examinations for the positions were conducted on January 8 and 9, while the final selection list was published on July 17.
KPSC convened an emergency meeting after complaints and purported evidence concerning the recruitment process circulated publicly. The commission subsequently decided to keep the selection list in abeyance until an internal investigation is completed.
The temporary stay does not amount to the cancellation of the recruitment process. Its future will depend on the findings of the inquiry and the ongoing police investigation.
Candidates Allege Cash-for-Jobs Scam
Candidates have alleged that middlemen demanded between ₹70 lakh and ₹80 lakh in exchange for securing appointments. They submitted purported audio recordings, photographs and videos to support their allegations.
Some complainants also raised questions about the marks obtained by certain selected candidates and alleged that confidential examination information was shared with intermediaries. These claims have not yet been established and remain under investigation.
A complaint was filed at Bengaluru’s Vidhana Soudha Police Station on July 24, followed by the registration of an FIR on July 25.
KPSC Panel Begins Recruitment Probe
KPSC has formed an internal subcommittee headed by a senior commission member and comprising three other members. The panel will examine documents connected with the examination and submit a comprehensive report within one week.
The commission’s secretary and legal cell head have been directed to provide administrative and legal assistance to the inquiry. KPSC said it was treating the allegations and police case seriously while remaining committed to fairness and transparency.
