Kolkata Warehouse Fire Kills Seven, Many Missing

At least seven people were killed after a massive fire broke out at a warehouse complex in southern Kolkata, while more than 20 others are feared missing. The fire erupted in the early hours at two adjoining warehouses in the Anandapur area, where several workers were reportedly inside at the time.

Rescue Operations Continue

Fire and emergency services rushed to the spot and deployed multiple fire engines to control the blaze. Firefighters faced difficulties due to intense heat, thick smoke, and the presence of highly flammable materials stored inside the warehouses. Search and rescue operations continued through the day as teams combed through the debris to locate missing workers.

Police officials said many of those unaccounted for were labourers who had been working or resting inside the premises. Family members gathered near the site seeking information about their relatives.

Cause Under Investigation

Authorities have not yet determined the cause of the fire. A forensic investigation has been ordered to establish how the blaze started and whether safety norms were violated. The area has been cordoned off, and officials said further details would be shared after the search operation is completed.
