KL Rahul Reflects On India’s Shock Defeat

India captain KL Rahul said he was “kicking himself” after the team failed to defend 358 against South Africa in the second ODI. Speaking after the match, he admitted that losing the toss and the heavy dew in the second innings proved decisive, making it extremely difficult for bowlers to control the wet ball.

Rahul Admits Misjudgment Of Conditions

Rahul said he underestimated how early and how heavily the dew would set in. According to him, even India’s best bowlers struggled to grip the ball, leading to loose deliveries and allowing South Africa to maintain a steady scoring rate throughout their chase of 359.

Execution And Fielding Lapses Added Pressure

The captain also pointed to lapses in execution, especially in the death overs. He noted that a few misfields and missed lengths made defending the target even harder. Rahul said the team must learn quickly and be “far more aware of conditions” in upcoming matches.
