Khamenei Blames US, Israel for Iran Protest Deaths

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei has accused the United States and Israel of being linked to the unrest that has swept parts of Iran and led to large-scale loss of life. In a public address, Khamenei claimed that foreign involvement played a role in the violence seen during the protests.

Claims on Casualties and Unrest

Khamenei said “thousands” of people were killed during the protests, describing the situation as one of the most serious internal challenges faced by the country in recent years. He alleged that hostile external actors exploited public anger to destabilise Iran and turn demonstrations violent.

Government Narrative

Iranian authorities have consistently described the protests as being driven by foreign-backed elements rather than domestic grievances. Officials maintain that security forces acted to restore order and protect public property, while rejecting allegations of disproportionate force.

International View

International observers and rights groups have linked the unrest primarily to internal economic pressures and political dissatisfaction. Calls have been made for transparency, restraint, and accountability as concerns continue over civilian casualties and mass arrests.
