Khalistani Terrorist Pannun Issues Fresh Threat Against Air India Flights
Khalistani terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, leader of the banned group Sikhs for Justice (SFJ), has issued a new threat warning passengers not to fly on Air India flights between November 1 and 19.
He claimed an attack could take place on an Air India flight during this period, which he linked to the 40th anniversary of the “Sikh genocide.”
Pannun, who holds dual Canadian and U.S. citizenship, has made similar threats in the past, including one last year targeting the same dates. His latest warning comes amid heightened tensions between India and Canada, following allegations from Canada about India’s targeting of Khalistani elements, including the killing of terrorist Hardeep Singh Nijjar.
Pannun’s History of Threats
In November 2023, Pannun also threatened that Delhi’s Indira Gandhi International Airport would be renamed and closed on November 19, urging people not to fly Air India that day. The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has charged him with multiple offenses, including criminal conspiracy and promoting enmity between religious groups, under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA).
Pannun has previously threatened attacks on Indian Parliament and key political figures. He issued a warning against attacking Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav on Republic Day this year, even urging gangsters to unite against the state.
Designated as a terrorist by India’s Ministry of Home Affairs in 2020, Pannun continues to advocate for a separate Sikh state through his SFJ group, which was banned by India in 2019 for its “anti-national” activities.
Ongoing Developments
Pannun’s threat comes at a time when India has received multiple bomb threats against airlines, all of which have turned out to be hoaxes. Additionally, on October 17, the United States charged a former officer of India’s intelligence agency, Research and Analysis Wing (RAW), for allegedly directing a foiled plot to murder Pannun, a charge New Delhi has strongly rejected as baseless.
Security agencies remain on high alert as these threats continue to escalate.
