Kerala Final Electoral Roll Shows 2.69 Crore Voters
Kerala’s final electoral roll ahead of upcoming state elections lists approximately 2.69 crore registered voters, following a comprehensive revision process that updated and cleaned voter entries. The final list reflects additions and removals made after objections and claims were resolved.
Kerala Final Electoral Roll Published
The state’s Chief Electoral Officer announced that the final electoral roll will be published after the completion of the Summary Revision (SIR) process. The updated roll includes about 2.6953 crore voters, showing changes from the previous draft list. This figure reflects the tally of eligible voters registered across all assembly constituencies in Kerala.
The revision involved verification and scrutiny of entries, leading to the removal of ineligible names and processing of new applications. The list now forms the basis for electoral preparations ahead of the next legislative assembly polls.
Electoral Roll Cleanup And Removals
During the hearing period of the SIR process, 53,229 names that appeared in the draft roll were removed. Those excluded included deceased individuals, persons who acquired foreign citizenship, people who changed permanent residence, and duplicate entries.
Meanwhile, over 13.5 lakh new applications for inclusion were accepted and incorporated into the final list. This update ensures that eligible citizens who applied are reflected in the electoral roll.
The refined voter list also includes about 2.23 lakh non-resident Indian (NRI) voters who applied for registration under provisions allowing overseas citizens to be part of the roll.
Appeals And Political Feedback On Voter List
Officials have provided an opportunity for individuals to file appeals against exclusions during the finalisation phase. Political parties have held discussions with election officials regarding the roll, with varying responses on the outcomes of the revision process and the numbers involved.
The publication of the final list officially concludes the voter registration update phase ahead of the polling schedule.
