Kavitha Quits BRS and MLC Amid Party Feud
K. Kavitha, daughter of former Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao, has resigned from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and her position as Member of the Legislative Council (MLC). The resignation came a day after she was suspended from the party on September 2 for alleged anti-party activities.
Accusations of Conspiracy Within the Party
Speaking at a press conference, Kavitha accused her cousins, Finance Minister T. Harish Rao and MP J. Santosh Kumar, of leading a conspiracy against her and her family. She also expressed disappointment that her brother, BRS working president K. T. Rama Rao, did not come to her defense during what she described as a “malicious campaign.”
Political Fallout and Future Outlook
Her decision to step down has deepened the crisis within the BRS, already under strain from corruption allegations tied to the Kaleshwaram irrigation project. Analysts say the move could intensify factionalism in the party and weaken its organizational strength ahead of upcoming political battles in Telangana.
