Karnataka Launches 90-Day Plan For Bengaluru Infra
The Karnataka government on September 24 unveiled a 90-day action plan to tackle Bengaluru’s deteriorating infrastructure. The plan aims to address potholes, garbage accumulation, sewerage issues, and traffic congestion — especially along the Outer Ring Road (ORR).
Key Measures And Targets
Under the scheme, authorities will focus on filling potholes, resurfacing roads, completing unfinished civic projects, improving waste disposal, and strengthening the sewer network. Officials also intend to redevelop stretches of ORR and monitor 12 high-density corridors for improvements.
Congestion Pricing Considered
The state is exploring congestion pricing and differential tolls on the ORR to discourage vehicle overuse during peak hours. This is part of a larger effort to reduce traffic load and promote sustainable urban mobility.
Implementation And Oversight
A high-level meeting, chaired by the Chief Secretary, reviewed the roadmap with senior administrators, civic experts, and stakeholders. Visible progress is expected within the 90 days, with officials calling for public support and cooperation.
Challenges And Expectations
Bengaluru has long faced infrastructure stress: poor road quality, inadequate drainage, and unchecked traffic growth. The 90-day plan seeks short-term relief while laying groundwork for longer changes. Success will depend on disciplined execution across departments and accountability at local levels.
