Kangana Ranaut Calls for Return of Farm Laws, Congress Responds with Strong Opposition
In a recent statement, Bollywood actor and BJP supporter Kangana Ranaut voiced her support for reinstating the controversial farm laws, sparking a sharp response from the Congress party.
Sharing a clip of Ranaut’s remarks, Congress challenged the ruling BJP to reintroduce the farm laws, which were withdrawn in 2021 after prolonged protests.

In the video, Ranaut expressed her belief that the farm laws should be restored and urged farmers to demand their return. “I know this will be controversial, but I believe the farm laws should be brought back. The farmers themselves should demand it. They are the nation’s pillar of strength, and I want to appeal to them – for your own good, ask for the laws to return,” she said.
Ranaut’s comments come after previous warnings from the BJP regarding her statements about the farm laws. Last month, she claimed the protests against the laws could have led to a situation similar to Bangladesh, referencing the recent resignation of Bangladeshi Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina amid student-led protests.
The farm laws, introduced in September 2020, sparked widespread unrest, leading to a year-long blockade of Delhi’s borders by farmers. In November 2021, Prime Minister Narendra Modi publicly apologized for “failing to convince” the farmers and subsequently repealed the laws.
In its manifesto for the upcoming elections in Haryana, the Congress has promised to implement a Minimum Support Price (MSP) for crops, one of the key demands during the anti-farm law protests. While the majority of the protestors hailed from Punjab, a significant number of farmers from neighboring Haryana also participated.
