JPMorgan CEO Criticises Sudden H-1B Fee Hike

JPMorgan CEO Jamie Dimon criticised the U.S. government’s sudden decision to impose a $100,000 fee on each new H-1B visa application. He said the move “came out of the blue” and stressed that businesses were not given time to prepare.

Impact on Immigration and Business Mobility

Dimon warned that abrupt visa policy changes risk harming global mobility of skilled professionals. He underlined that the U.S. has always benefited from being an “immigrant nation” and must continue to remain attractive to foreign talent to sustain its competitiveness.

Trade Ties With India

Dimon also highlighted the importance of stronger U.S.-India ties, saying India is a “natural friend of America.” He expressed optimism about a possible trade agreement between the two nations and urged policymakers to balance visa reforms with long-term economic partnerships.
