Oil and Natural Gas Corporation (ONGC) is reportedly preparing to establish a state‑of‑the‑art refinery in Jamnagar district, Gujarat, with Saudi Arabia set to supply the crude necessary for the project. This ambitious initiative represents a major expansion of ONGC’s downstream operations and marks a strategic alignment with Middle Eastern partners to secure long‑term feedstock.
The proposed refinery is designed to complement ONGC’s existing upstream strengths by transforming crude into refined petroleum products domestically. Sources indicate that Saudi crude will form the backbone of supply for the facility, reinforcing India’s effort to diversify its sources and solidify energy security through stable long‑term contracts.
