Jaishankar Thanks US for Support in Terror Fight
In the midst of escalating tensions with Pakistan, External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar held a crucial conversation with U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio, reaffirming bilateral cooperation in counterterrorism efforts. The call came amid global scrutiny following India’s cross-border military responses to terror strikes originating from Pakistan.
“Spoke with US @SecRubio this evening. Deeply appreciate US commitment to work with India in the fight against terrorism,” Jaishankar posted on social media, signaling a strong diplomatic alignment between Washington and New Delhi on security issues.
He emphasized India’s approach to recent provocations, stating, “Underlined India’s targeted and measured response to cross-border terrorism. Will firmly counter any attempts at escalation.”
Targeted Response to Cross-Border Terrorism
The communication between the two leaders follows India’s military actions, including precision drone and missile strikes under Operation Sindoor, which targeted terror infrastructure across the Line of Control and deep within Pakistan. These operations were launched in response to the Pahalgam terror attack that killed several Indian security personnel and civilians.
India has described its actions as restrained yet resolute, aimed solely at dismantling terror camps and preventing future attacks. Jaishankar’s remarks to the U.S. Secretary reinforced India’s stance of proportional retaliation while maintaining strategic stability.
