Jaishankar Begins Six-Day Visit to France, Luxembourg
External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has begun a six-day official visit to France and Luxembourg, aimed at strengthening India’s bilateral engagement with key European partners. The visit comes at a time when India is expanding diplomatic, economic, and strategic cooperation with Europe amid shifting global geopolitical dynamics.
High-Level Talks in France
During his visit to France, Jaishankar is scheduled to hold meetings with senior French leaders to review progress under the India–France strategic partnership. Discussions are expected to focus on defence cooperation, trade, technology, climate action, and regional security issues. France remains a major strategic partner for India, with long-standing collaboration in defence, space, and energy sectors. Jaishankar is also expected to interact with policy experts and address official gatherings during his stay in Paris.
Engagements in Luxembourg
The External Affairs Minister will then travel to Luxembourg, where he is set to meet senior government leaders to discuss political ties and economic cooperation. Talks are likely to cover areas such as financial services, investment, innovation, and cooperation within the European Union framework. Jaishankar is also expected to engage with members of the Indian community during the visit.
Broader Strategic Context
The visit reflects India’s broader push to deepen partnerships across Europe and diversify diplomatic and economic relationships. Officials said the meetings will also include discussions on global challenges, including regional conflicts, supply chains, and multilateral cooperation.
