ISRO Deploys 10 Satellites to Safeguard India’s Borders
Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) Chairman Dr. V. Narayanan has revealed that ten satellites are currently operating around the clock to ensure the safety and security of Indian citizens. These satellites play a crucial role in providing real-time surveillance over India’s vast land and maritime borders.
The satellites are specifically tasked with monitoring strategic zones, including India’s extensive 7,000-kilometer-long coastline and sensitive northern borders. They form an integral part of India’s defense readiness, capable of detecting threats and aiding swift response mechanisms in coordination with national agencies.
Space and Drone Tech: Backbone of Modern Security
Dr. Narayanan emphasized that without satellite and drone technology, monitoring such an expansive geographic area would be nearly impossible. He noted the increasing role of space-based systems in national security operations, disaster response, and environmental monitoring. These advancements are now a critical element of India’s defense and intelligence infrastructure.
India’s growing presence in the global space sector was also highlighted, with the country having launched over 430 satellites for 34 other nations. These achievements reflect the technological maturity and reliability of India’s launch and space monitoring systems.
Vision 2040: Indian Space Station on Horizon
Looking ahead, ISRO is working towards its ambitious goal of establishing India’s first indigenous space station by the year 2040. This would significantly enhance the country’s ability to conduct long-duration scientific missions, monitor strategic zones from orbit, and reduce dependence on foreign platforms for space-based intelligence.
The deployment of surveillance satellites is part of a broader strategy to integrate space assets into India’s national security framework. With round-the-clock coverage and advanced imaging capabilities, these satellites offer a powerful tool to detect and respond to any external or internal threat.
