Israeli Strike on Gaza Hospital Kills Journalists and Rescuers

An Israeli airstrike hit the fourth floor of Nasser Hospital, followed minutes later by a second strike as journalists and rescuers rushed to the scene. The back-to-back strikes killed at least 20 people, including medical staff and media workers.

Journalists Among the Dead

At least five journalists were confirmed killed in the attack. Among them were professionals working with Reuters, Al Jazeera, the Associated Press, and other outlets. Both a Reuters contractor and an AP visual journalist were identified among the victims.

Israeli Military’s Response

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) admitted conducting the strike in the area of the hospital and expressed regret over civilian deaths. The military said it does not deliberately target journalists and has launched an inquiry into the incident.

Growing Toll on Media Workers

Press freedom groups note that the Gaza conflict has become one of the deadliest wars for journalists. Hundreds of media workers have been killed since the start of the fighting, raising global concerns over press safety in war zones.
