Israeli Envoy Rebuts Priyanka Gandhi’s Gaza & Journalists Comments
Israeli Ambassador Reuven Azar has strongly responded to remarks by Congress MP Priyanka Gandhi Vadra over the Gaza conflict and the killing of Al Jazeera journalists.
Genocide Claims Rejected
Priyanka Gandhi had alleged that over 60,000 Palestinians, including more than 18,000 children, were killed in what she termed a genocide. She also called the killing of five Al Jazeera journalists in Gaza a “cold-blooded murder” and a “heinous crime,” while criticising the Indian government for remaining silent on the issue.
Ambassador Azar dismissed her claims as “deceit” and insisted that Israel had killed 25,000 Hamas fighters, accusing the group of using civilians as human shields and operating from densely populated areas. He urged people not to accept casualty figures released by Hamas, calling them politically motivated.
Gaza and Humanitarian Messaging
Azar accused Priyanka Gandhi of distorting the facts about the conflict and defended Israel’s actions, saying humanitarian aid efforts were ongoing despite Hamas allegedly obstructing relief operations. The diplomatic exchange reflects both the heightened tensions surrounding the humanitarian situation in Gaza and the way such issues are influencing political debates in India.
