Israel Strikes Gaza City Tower, Orders Residents To Flee

Israel destroyed a high-rise building in Gaza City after warning residents to evacuate, as the military intensified operations around the territory’s largest urban center. Witnesses identified the building as the Sussi residential tower. The military said Hamas used the site for surveillance and intelligence, while residents were instructed to move south before the strike.

Evacuation Orders And Humanitarian Zone

Officials again urged civilians to head to the designated “humanitarian zone” in Al-Mawasi on the southern coast, where aid and medical care are being provided. Similar warnings and evacuation orders have accompanied a series of recent strikes on tall buildings in Gaza City.

International Pressure And Worsening Conditions

The escalation comes amid international pressure to halt the war, which has stretched nearly two years. In August, a UN-backed panel confirmed famine in Gaza Governorate, with aid agencies warning that conditions could spread without expanded access to food and medicine.

Hostage Negotiations

At the White House on Friday, U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States was in “very deep” negotiations with Hamas over the release of hostages held in Gaza. He pressed for their immediate release. Israeli authorities estimate 47 to 50 hostages remain in Gaza, including some believed to be dead.

Heavy Toll Since October 2023

Since Hamas’s October 2023 attack that killed around 1,200 people in Israel, the Israeli campaign in Gaza has resulted in tens of thousands of Palestinian deaths, according to local health officials whose figures are widely used by international agencies. Media access remains restricted, making independent verification difficult.
