Israel Strikes Central Iran After Leadership Shift
Israel launched another wave of air strikes across central Iran on Monday, targeting missile infrastructure and internal security sites hours after Iran confirmed Mojtaba Khamenei as its new Supreme Leader. The latest operation signalled that the conflict remains active despite the leadership transition in Tehran, with Israeli forces continuing to focus on military and regime-linked installations.
Israel Strikes Missile Sites In Iran
The Israeli military said its air force hit a rocket engine production facility and several long-range ballistic missile launch sites that it said posed a threat to Israel. The strikes were described as part of a wider campaign against infrastructure linked to the Iranian regime. The latest attacks suggest Israel is trying to weaken Iran’s missile-launch capability while maintaining pressure on strategic sites in central parts of the country.
Isfahan Security Command Centres Targeted
Israeli forces also said they struck internal security headquarters in Isfahan, along with a police headquarters and facilities used by the Revolutionary Guards and the Basij. These institutions are central to Iran’s internal enforcement and security structure. By including these targets in the latest wave, Israel appeared to be broadening its focus beyond missile systems to include parts of the domestic security network that support regime control.
Mojtaba Khamenei Appointment Adds New Context
The strikes were the first publicly reported Israeli raid since Mojtaba Khamenei was named Iran’s new Supreme Leader following the death of Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The timing adds a new political dimension to the military campaign, with the conflict now entering a phase shaped by both leadership change in Tehran and continued Israeli efforts to damage key regime institutions. The latest developments indicate that the succession has not slowed the pace of operations and may instead deepen the confrontation in the days ahead.
