Israel Signs $5.2B Deal for 25 F-15 Fighter Jets from Boeing

In a significant boost to its defense capabilities, Israel has signed a $5.2 billion agreement with Boeing to acquire 25 F-15IA fighter jets.

Announced by Israel’s defense ministry on Thursday, the deal includes an option to purchase an additional 25 aircraft. The procurement is part of a U.S.-approved aid package, aimed at strengthening Israel’s strategic reach in the Middle East.

Delivery Timeline and Aircraft Capabilities

Under the agreement, Boeing will start delivering the advanced F-15IA aircraft in 2031, supplying four to six jets each year. The fighter jets will feature integrated Israeli weapons systems and advanced range and payload capabilities, enhancing Israel’s ability to respond to current and future security challenges in the region.

“These advantages will enable the Israeli Air Force to maintain its strategic superiority,” the defense ministry stated, emphasizing the new F-15 squadron’s role in reinforcing Israel’s aerial strength alongside the recent addition of a third F-35 squadron.

Strategic Investment Amid Conflict

Defense ministry director-general Eyal Zamir highlighted the timing and scope of Israel’s military investments, noting that since the conflict in Gaza began on October 7, 2023, Israel has secured procurement agreements totaling nearly $40 billion. “While addressing immediate needs for advanced weaponry, we’re also making strategic investments for the long term,” Zamir stated.

Boeing’s Growing Partnership with Israel

This F-15 deal marks Boeing’s second major transaction with Israel this year. In August, Israeli airline El Al signed a $2.5 billion agreement with Boeing for 31 737 MAX aircraft. Ido Nehushtan, president of Boeing Israel, emphasized the company’s long-standing relationship with Israel, pledging continued support through military procurement channels to deliver the advanced F-15IA jets.

The new F-15 squadron underscores Israel’s commitment to enhancing its air defense capabilities, ensuring readiness against evolving threats in the Middle East.
