Israel Plans Swift Takeover of Gaza City to “Defeat Hamas”

Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Israel has “no choice but to finish the job and complete the defeat of Hamas,” stressing the group’s refusal to surrender. He clarified that Israel’s aim is not to occupy Gaza but to “free Gaza” from Hamas control. Netanyahu announced that the Gaza City operation will begin soon and predicted that the war could end quickly. The Israeli security cabinet has already approved the plan.

What Comes After the Offensive

Netanyahu shared his vision for Gaza after the operation, which includes:

  • Demilitarizing Gaza and dismantling armed groups.
  • Setting up a civilian administration, independent of Israel, under Israeli military security oversight.
  • Establishing a security zone along Gaza’s border to protect Israel from future attacks.

Growing Condemnation and Humanitarian Alarms

The plan has drawn criticism both inside Israel and from the international community, with many raising concerns about worsening humanitarian conditions. Reports indicate rising malnutrition rates and severe shortages of essential supplies in Gaza.

Looking Ahead

Netanyahu said Israel will not occupy Gaza permanently and rejected international criticism, describing it as a “global campaign of lies.” He also promised that foreign media would be allowed entry into Gaza once the military operation is complete. The success of the plan could reshape Gaza’s political and security future.
