Israel Launches Fresh Offensive in Lebanon: 182 Killed in Strikes on Hezbollah Targets
In a significant escalation of conflict, at least 182 people have been killed, with over 700 injured, including children, women, and medical personnel, as Israel ramped up its military offensive in southern Lebanon on Monday, the Lebanese health ministry confirmed. The strikes have primarily targeted areas linked to Hezbollah, the Iran-backed militant group, as tensions rise in the region.
Israel’s defense forces issued urgent evacuation warnings to civilians in areas believed to be Hezbollah strongholds, advising them to leave their homes and shelters immediately. According to Lebanese officials, more than 80,000 residents received calls from Israeli authorities urging evacuation. Imad Kreidieh, head of Lebanon’s telecom company Ogero, described these calls as “psychological warfare designed to spread chaos,” as reported by Reuters.
The escalation follows 11 months of conflict between Israel and Hezbollah, now nearing the brink of all-out war. This latest offensive saw Israel carry out what it described as “extensive strikes” across Lebanon, signaling a potential new phase in the ongoing conflict.
Israel’s actions have raised concerns about further regional destabilization, with Tel Aviv seemingly preparing for a prolonged confrontation with Hezbollah.
