Israel Kills IRGC’s Saeed Izadi in Qom Airstrike
In a major escalation of its targeted campaign against Iranian leadership, Israel has announced the killing of Saeed Izadi, the head of the IRGC Quds Force’s Palestine Corps, in an airstrike on the Iranian city of Qom.
Key Figure Behind Hamas Attack Eliminated
According to Israeli military officials, Izadi played a critical role in orchestrating the October 7 attacks carried out by Hamas against Israel. He is believed to have acted as a central conduit for the flow of intelligence, funding, and logistical coordination between Hamas and Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), particularly through the Quds Force’s Palestine Corps.
“The military claims he was a key orchestrator of the October 7 Hamas attacks and played a central role in coordinating support from Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps.”
Izadi’s involvement in these operations had already drawn the attention of Western governments, leading to his inclusion on sanctions lists by both the United States and the United Kingdom. His operational role reportedly spanned well beyond Palestinian territories, as he was considered one of the IRGC’s most strategic assets in managing Iran’s regional proxy networks.
Part of Wider Israeli Operation
His death comes just a week into Israel’s intensified military campaign aimed at decapitating IRGC leadership and degrading Iran’s nuclear infrastructure. The operation, which began with strikes on sites such as Isfahan and other strategic nodes, marks a significant expansion of Israel’s strategy beyond Gaza and Syria into the Iranian heartland.
“Izadi, who was under US and UK sanctions, was reportedly killed in an Israeli airstrike one week after the start of Israel’s military campaign targeting IRGC leaders and nuclear infrastructure in Iran.”
The assassination of such a senior IRGC figure inside Iran is likely to provoke a sharp response from Tehran and could further escalate regional tensions, especially with other Iranian-backed groups such as Hezbollah and the Houthis already involved in the widening conflict.
