Iran Warns US Over Hormuz Escalation

Iran has warned the United States that the crisis around the Strait of Hormuz is far from over, after Washington launched a military-backed operation to help stranded commercial vessels move through the key Gulf waterway.

Iran Warning On Strait Of Hormuz

Iranian parliament speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf said a “new equation” around the Strait of Hormuz was being formed and warned that Tehran had “not even begun yet.”

Iran has accused the United States and its allies of worsening the shipping and energy crisis through military action and blockade measures. Tehran also blamed recent incidents in the Gulf on what it described as US military adventurism.

US Project Freedom In Gulf

US President Donald Trump launched Project Freedom to escort stranded tankers and cargo ships through the Strait of Hormuz. The US said two American-flagged merchant vessels crossed the waterway under naval protection.

Washington also claimed it destroyed six Iranian military boats during the operation, a claim denied by Iranian state media. Iran’s Revolutionary Guards said no commercial vessels had crossed the strait in recent hours.

UAE Attack And Global Oil Concerns

The crisis widened after Iran launched missile and drone attacks on the UAE, including a strike that caused a fire at an oil facility in Fujairah and injured three Indian nationals.

Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, the UK and India have called for de-escalation. Oil prices remained volatile, with Brent crude trading above $113 a barrel after Monday’s jump. The IMF has warned that a prolonged conflict could worsen inflation and damage the global economy.
