Iran Says Pakistan Not Hosting US Talks Yet

Iran has said Pakistan is involved only in consultations and not in any direct or indirect negotiations between Tehran and Washington, as fresh diplomatic speculation continues around Islamabad’s possible mediation role. The clarification came from Iran’s ambassador to Pakistan, Reza Amiri Moghadam, who denied claims that talks with the United States had already taken place. His remarks place Pakistan at the centre of regional diplomatic messaging, but not yet at the stage of formal negotiation.

Iran Clarifies Pakistan Role In US Tensions

Moghadam said no direct or indirect talks have so far taken place between Iran and the United States, despite repeated public claims from Washington suggesting otherwise. He said reports of negotiations had surfaced through the media, but according to the information available to him, there had been no such engagement. The statement was significant because it directly addressed speculation that Pakistan may already be facilitating active talks.

Pakistan Described As Part Of Friendly Consultations

The Iranian ambassador said friendly countries have held consultations with both sides in an effort to help end the war. That places Pakistan in the category of intermediary states engaged in diplomatic outreach rather than confirmed hosts of formal peace talks. The distinction matters because Islamabad has been increasingly discussed as a possible channel for communication, but Tehran is still publicly resisting any suggestion that negotiations are underway.

Iran-Pakistan Diplomacy Gains Regional Attention

The comments highlight Pakistan’s growing importance in the wider regional crisis, especially as countries search for diplomatic off-ramps to prevent further escalation. While Iran has kept its public line firm, its acknowledgement of consultations through friendly countries suggests Pakistan remains relevant to any future peace effort. For now, the Iran-Pakistan angle is less about a confirmed breakthrough and more about quiet positioning in a tense regional moment.
