Iran Rejects Trump Ceasefire Extension

Iran has rejected President Donald Trump’s extension of the ceasefire, with a senior adviser to Parliament Speaker Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf saying the “losing side cannot dictate terms” and warning that continued pressure would not be accepted. The sharp response has deepened uncertainty around the fragile truce and signalled that Tehran is not willing to treat Washington’s latest move as a meaningful concession.

Iran Rejects Trump Ceasefire Extension

The criticism came from Mahdi Mohammadi, an adviser to Ghalibaf, who said Trump’s extension of the ceasefire “means nothing” from Iran’s point of view. He argued that the United States cannot impose terms while maintaining pressure on Iran, making it clear that Tehran sees the extension as politically hollow rather than as a genuine diplomatic opening.

Iran Says Continued Blockade Equals Bombardment

Mohammadi also said the continuation of the siege or blockade was no different from active bombardment and should be met with a military response. That language reflects the hardening line inside Iran as tensions remain high over shipping restrictions, military pressure and stalled diplomacy. The remarks suggest that Iran is treating the ceasefire extension not as de-escalation, but as another form of coercion.

Tehran Sees Extension As Strategy To Buy Time

Iranian voices close to the leadership have also described the ceasefire extension as a possible ploy to buy time for a surprise strike. That accusation adds to the mistrust already surrounding the next phase of talks and shows why the diplomatic track remains unstable even after the truce was prolonged. With both sides still speaking in confrontational terms, the ceasefire may have delayed escalation, but it has not resolved the core standoff.
