Iran Ramps Up Security For Khamenei Funeral

Iran has placed its armed forces on heightened alert ahead of the multi-day funeral ceremonies for late Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, with officials saying security has been expanded across land, sea and air borders.

Iran Security Alert Ahead Of Khamenei Funeral

Brigadier General Mohammad Akraminia said Iran’s military has increased its operational presence across the country as preparations continue for the funeral of Khamenei. The ceremonies are expected to draw senior officials, religious leaders and political representatives from several countries.

Akraminia said the army’s ground, naval and air forces have expanded their deployment across Iran’s borders to help maintain security during the funeral period.

Iranian Armed Forces Increase Border Deployment

Security measures have been tightened across key border points as Iran prepares to host large numbers of domestic mourners and international visitors. Officials said the expanded deployment is intended to prevent any security disruption during the multi-day events.

Iran’s military is expected to remain on alert throughout the funeral ceremonies, with coordination between different branches of the armed forces.

Iran Air Defence Monitors National Airspace

Akraminia also said Iran’s air defence force is maintaining continuous surveillance of the country’s airspace. The heightened monitoring comes as Tehran prepares for the arrival of senior delegations and public gatherings linked to the funeral.

The funeral is being organised as a major state event, with Iranian authorities focusing on crowd management, border security and protection of visiting dignitaries. Further restrictions and security advisories may remain in place until the ceremonies conclude.
