Iran Military Rejects Trump Talk Claim
Iran’s military has rejected US President Donald Trump’s latest suggestion that talks are underway, with a senior spokesperson using unusually blunt language to dismiss the claim. The response, carried by Iranian state-linked media, underlines Tehran’s continued refusal to publicly acknowledge negotiations with Washington, even as diplomatic speculation has intensified around possible backchannel contacts.
Iran Rejects Trump Talk Claims
Lieutenant Colonel Ebrahim Zolfaghari, spokesperson for Iran’s Khatam al-Anbiya central headquarters, ridiculed the US position and said Washington was effectively “negotiating with itself”. He also told the US not to describe failure as an agreement, signalling that Tehran sees Trump’s public remarks as political messaging rather than evidence of real diplomatic progress. The statement reinforces Iran’s repeated insistence that no formal talks are taking place.
Iran Signals Hardline Position On Oil And Conflict
According to the statement, Zolfaghari said there would be no return to previous oil prices or the earlier regional order until Iran’s conditions are met. That message links Tehran’s military posture directly to the wider economic shock caused by the conflict, especially disruption in energy markets and shipping routes. It also suggests Iran is trying to use both military escalation and economic pressure to strengthen its leverage.
Tehran Uses Strong Rhetoric Against Washington
Zolfaghari’s comments ended with a hardline message that Iran would never align with the United States under present conditions. The language reflects the wider tone adopted by Iran’s military and political establishment in recent days, as officials reject Trump’s claims of diplomatic movement while continuing to frame the conflict as a test of national will. For now, Tehran’s public line remains one of defiance rather than compromise, even as reports of indirect communication continue to circulate.
