Iran Launches Revenge Missile Attack On Israel
Iran launched a fresh missile attack on Israel, describing it as retaliation for the killing of senior Iranian officials in recent Israeli strikes. The latest barrage marked another escalation in the widening war, with Israeli air defences once again coming under pressure as Tehran signalled that targeted assassinations would draw a direct response.
Iran Launches Revenge Missile Attack On Israel
Iran fired missiles at central Israel overnight, saying the strike was revenge for the assassinations of senior figures in its security establishment. The attack reportedly involved missiles designed to complicate interception, including warheads that can release multiple submunitions. The latest barrage showed that Iran is continuing to respond directly despite repeated Israeli strikes on its military and political leadership.
Israeli Cities Hit As Air Defences Face Pressure
The missile attack caused casualties and damage in parts of central Israel, including the Ramat Gan area near Tel Aviv. The strike underlined the continuing risk to urban centres even with Israel’s layered air defence system in operation. Recent assessments have suggested that some of Iran’s newer missile configurations are harder to stop if they are not intercepted before separating in flight, adding to the challenge faced by Israeli defences.
Assassinations Deepen Iran-Israel War
The latest attack came after Israel’s killing of senior Iranian figures, including security chief Ali Larijani, in what has become a more aggressive campaign against Tehran’s leadership. Iran has framed the assassinations as a major escalation and has repeatedly said they will not go unanswered. With both sides continuing to expand the conflict through strikes, retaliation and counter-retaliation, the chances of an early de-escalation appear increasingly limited.
