Iran Denies Arrest of Indian Nationals During Unrest
Iran’s Ambassador to India, Mohammad Fathali, has dismissed reports that Indian citizens were arrested amid ongoing anti-government protests in the country, calling them “totally false.” He urged the public to rely on verified and credible sources for information as rumours spread on social media.
Diplomatic Clarification and Reassurance
The clarification comes at a time when concerns have grown over the safety of Indian students studying in Iran. Large-scale demonstrations have continued in parts of Iran, leading to a government crackdown and widespread reporting of unrest. The ambassador’s statement specifically rejected claims that Iranian police had detained groups that included Indian nationals.
Safety of Indian Students
Indian associations representing medical students have reassured families, stating that Indian students in Iran are safe and there is no immediate threat to their well-being. Officials from these groups said they were in contact with students across the country and monitoring the situation.
