Iran Claims US Defence Systems Destroyed
Iran has claimed that its forces destroyed several American air-defence assets and other military infrastructure during attacks on US bases in Jordan and Kuwait. The reported damage has not been independently verified or confirmed by the US military.
Iran Claims US Defence Systems Destroyed
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said its forces targeted American military facilities in Jordan in retaliation for continuing US attacks on Iranian territory.
The IRGC claimed that the strikes destroyed a radar belonging to the US Terminal High Altitude Area Defense system. It also reported hitting a Patriot air-defence system, a counter-rocket, artillery and mortar radar, fuel tanks and facilities used to store and maintain helicopter equipment.
Iran said it respected Jordanian sovereignty but argued that the presence of American military bases inside the country violated its territorial integrity. Jordanian authorities had not immediately confirmed the reported damage.
Iranian Drones Target Kuwait Bases
In a separate statement, Iran’s regular army said it launched large-scale drone attacks against three US military facilities in Kuwait during the 23rd phase of what it calls Operation Lightning.
The Iranian military identified ammunition and logistics depots at the Doha base, fuel tanks at Ali Al Salem Air Base and an ammunition facility at Camp Arifjan as targets.
It also claimed that accommodation facilities for American personnel, helicopter hangars at Al-Adiri barracks and military communications infrastructure were struck.
US Yet to Confirm Iran Claims
No immediate confirmation of the claimed losses was issued by the United States, Jordan or Kuwait. The scale and effectiveness of the Iranian attacks therefore remain unclear.
The latest claims follow an earlier Iranian missile and drone attack on a US base in Jordan that killed two American service members. US forces have continued conducting strikes against Iranian military sites, including missile facilities, drone storage centres, coastal surveillance systems and air-defence assets.
More than 50,000 American military personnel are currently deployed across the Middle East amid the widening conflict.
