Iran Claims Missile Strike On US Base In Iraq
Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps said it had targeted the Al-Harir Air Base in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, describing the strike as part of its continuing response in the widening regional conflict. The claim came alongside a separate diplomatic controversy after a UAE mission in Iraqi Kurdistan was hit in a drone strike, adding to fears of broader instability beyond Iran’s immediate battlefield.
IRGC Says Al Harir Air Base Was Targeted
In a statement, the IRGC said the American military facility at Al-Harir Air Base was struck with five missiles. The base, located in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, has long been associated with US military activity and has previously figured in periods of heightened regional tension. Iran presented the attack as a direct warning to the United States and a continuation of its military retaliation strategy.
Iraq Kurdistan Strike Adds To Regional Risks
The reported strike underlined the growing danger that the conflict could spread further across Iraq and other neighbouring states where US assets and allied interests are present. Attacks in Iraqi Kurdistan carry wider implications because the region hosts both foreign diplomatic missions and security facilities, making it especially vulnerable to escalation and miscalculation.
UAE Mission Drone Strike Deepens Diplomatic Concern
In a separate development, a UAE diplomatic mission in Iraqi Kurdistan was targeted in a drone strike early Tuesday. The UAE’s foreign ministry described the incident as a dangerous escalation and said attacks on diplomatic premises violate international law and norms. While the two incidents are distinct, their timing has heightened concerns that the regional confrontation is now affecting both military and diplomatic infrastructure in third countries.
The latest developments show how the conflict is increasingly spilling across borders, drawing in bases, missions and strategic locations far beyond Iran and Israel. As competing claims continue and tensions remain high, Iraq’s Kurdistan region is emerging as one of the most sensitive fronts in the wider regional crisis.
