IPS Officer’s Mother Found Dead in UP Home
The elderly mother of Uttar Pradesh IPS officer Ashutosh Mishra was found dead under suspicious circumstances at her home in Ambedkar Nagar district, with police registering a murder and robbery case after jewellery was discovered missing from her body.

The victim, identified as Indravati, was found unresponsive on a cot at her home in Rurha Dhamrua village under the Malipur police station area.
The incident came to light after a domestic worker arrived at the house and found the main door locked from outside. After entering, she discovered Indravati lying motionless and alerted neighbours, who subsequently informed the family and police.
Police said a cloth had been stuffed into the woman’s mouth and injuries were visible on her body, raising suspicion of foul play.
Jewellery Missing as Police Suspect Robbery
Ashutosh Mishra, who is serving as a Superintendent of Police in Lucknow, told investigators that several pieces of jewellery normally worn by his mother were missing.
The missing items reportedly included a gold chain, a tulsi necklace containing gold beads, earrings, a nose pin and anklets.
Blood was also noticed around her mouth, while injury marks were found on her lips. Investigators are examining whether robbery was the primary motive behind the suspected killing.
Murder and Robbery Case Registered
A case of murder and robbery has been registered against unidentified persons at Malipur police station following a complaint filed by Mishra.
Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the death, including movements around the house and possible entry and exit routes used by the suspects.
Investigators are working to identify those responsible and recover the missing jewellery as the probe continues.
