IPL 2026 Scheduled From March 26 to May 31

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has finalised the window for the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL), with the tournament set to be held from March 26 to May 31. The decision aligns the league with the international cricket calendar and allows space for bilateral series and global tournaments.

Officials said the schedule has been planned to ensure minimal overlap with major international commitments, enabling leading overseas players to participate across the season. The duration is similar to recent IPL editions, which have expanded in length following the addition of new franchises.

Full Home-and-Away Format Likely

The IPL 2026 season is expected to continue with a full home-and-away format, featuring all ten teams. This format has been in place since the league returned to normal operations after pandemic-related disruptions. The final match is tentatively scheduled for the end of May, subject to weather conditions and logistical planning.

While the exact match fixtures and venues will be announced later, franchises have been informed of the confirmed window to help with player contracts, travel planning, and commercial arrangements.

Coordination With International Calendar

The BCCI has coordinated with international cricket bodies to ensure the IPL window does not clash with major ICC events. The scheduling also takes into account player workload management, especially for Indian cricketers involved in all-format international duties.

Further Announcements Awaited

The league’s governing council is expected to release detailed fixtures, playoff venues, and ticketing information closer to the tournament. Broadcasters and sponsors have welcomed the clarity on dates, calling it crucial for long-term planning.
