IPL 2025 Mega Auction Set for November in Jeddah
The highly anticipated IPL 2025 mega auction will take place in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, on November 24 and 25, as IPL teams gear up to spend Rs 641.5 crore on filling 204 player slots.
This marks the second consecutive year that the IPL auction will be held overseas, with Dubai hosting it last year.
1,574 Players Registered for Auction
The auction has attracted a massive pool of 1,574 registered players, including 1,165 Indian and 409 overseas players. The auction coincides with India and Australia’s Test series in Perth, which begins on November 22, adding to the excitement. Among the players anticipated to spark bidding wars are stars like Rishabh Pant, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Arshdeep Singh.
Each franchise is allowed a maximum squad of 25 players, including retained players, with 204 slots available overall. Of these, 70 are reserved for overseas players. The list of players includes 320 capped, 1,224 uncapped, and 30 players from Associate Nations.
Teams’ Purse Status After Retentions
After the October 31 retention deadline, 46 players have been retained by the franchises at a combined cost of Rs 558.5 crore. Each team was initially allocated Rs 120 crore, with Punjab Kings holding the largest remaining purse of Rs 110.5 crore, while Rajasthan Royals have the smallest at Rs 41 crore.
