Indigo Clears Refunds And Baggage Backlog
IndiGo has processed refunds worth ₹610 crore and returned around 3,000 bags to passengers after six days of disruption. The airline provided the update as flight operations continued to stabilise across major airports. The refund process was a key condition set by the aviation ministry after large-scale cancellations affected thousands of travellers.
Flight Operations Recovering
The airline operated nearly 1,650 flights on Saturday, a significant improvement from the peak of the disruption when services had fallen to just over 700 flights in a day. Most domestic routes are now back in operation. Officials said that crew availability and scheduling issues are being monitored closely to avoid fresh cancellations.
Government Deadline And Passenger Relief
The aviation ministry had directed IndiGo to complete pending refunds by December 7 and to return separated baggage within 48 hours. The airline confirmed that it had met the deadline. Separated baggage from cancelled flights has been handed back to passengers, providing relief after delays and inconvenience.
Close Watch From Regulators
Civil aviation authorities said they will continue to track operations to ensure passenger safety and service reliability. Experts noted that while schedules have improved, the incident has highlighted the need for better planning and contingency measures. Passengers affected by cancellations are expected to receive full refunds and necessary support.
